Tajweed

Now we know that once you've learned the sounds of the Arabic letters,

and how they fit together to make words,

there are lots of little rules of how the letters are spoken

depending on where they are,

and what is on either side of them.

And we know that we need someone who has learned those rules to teach us,

otherwise how would we know if we are actually making the right sounds

when we think we are.

But what are the first rules of tajweed you will need to learn

if you are to recite the Qur'an correctly?

Here are the most common rules that we need to know,

the most important ones.

There's not so many of them.

Nun Sakin

Tanwin

al-Ishar

al-Idgham

al-Iqlab and al-Ikhfa

Mim Sakin

Nun and Mim Mushaddadah

al-Madd

al-Waqf and al-Ibtida
