Well, here we are again, back at the Thruway for the Eternity Well,

but this time we're at the start of Level 3.

We are back at the place where we can get so close to God

that we can hear the actual words that Allah bestowed on humankind,

the Message for all those humans who hear it and realise just how special it is,

a Message for all the muslims around the world throughout history,

and a Message for each one of us to fold into our lives.

And because each person is different,

with that variety which the Message tells us is one of the Signs of God,

each person's understanding of the Qur'an is different,

with their understanding necessarily dependent on the experiences of their lives.

But for each of them the Qur'an has a Message of Guidance,

a Message of hope and warning.

So there can be no one fixed understanding of the Qur'an.

Even for those who can understand the Arabic language

the relationships between the words can seem to shift and change.

So how much more is that the case

when someone tries to translate God's words into another language.

The best that anyone can do is give their own best interpretation.

And there are many interpretations out there, in English and many other languages,

each giving their author's chosen words to say what they think the Message means.

While in the Arabic language there are libraries of books dedicated to their authors understandings of the meaning of the Message,

even when the words being discussed remain the same.

For the original Message does stay the same,

the same words that were revealed to the Messenger more than 1400 years ago,

and preserved by muslims since that time through handwritten labours of love,

and as a treasured possession in their hearts and minds.
