God
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
O Newsbringer
be Mindful of God
and do not obey
those who are
ungrateful
or those who
pretend to believe
God is
All-Knowing
Wise
and follow
what has been
revealed to you
from your Liege
surely God is aware of
the things you do
and put your trust in God
God is enough
to guard you
God has not given anyone
two hearts in their breast
nor has Hu
made your wives
when you divorce them
saying
"Be like my mother's back"
truly your mothers
nor has Hu made
your adopted sons
your actual sons
those are just
words from your mouths
but God speaks the truth
and guides on the Way
call them after
their true fathers
that is closer to justice
in God's sight
if you do not know
who their fathers were
then they are
your brothers in the Way
people you care for
it is not your fault
if you make mistakes
only in what your hearts
deliberately intend
God is
Most-Forgiving
Ever-Merciful
the Newsbringer is closer
to those who believe
than their own selves
his wives
are their mothers
those who are
related by blood
are closer to one another
in the Book of God
than those who believe
and those who made Hijra
but you should act
towards your friends
with honour
that is written in the Book
when We took a promise
from the Newsbringers
and from you
and from Noah
and Abraham
and Moses
and Jesus Mary's son
We took from them
a solemn promise
so Hu might question
those who tell the truth
about how truthful they are
and Hu has made ready
for those who are
ungrateful
a painful punishment
you who believe
remember
God's blessing on you
when armies
came to fight you
and We set loose
a wind against them
and armies you did not see
and God sees
the things you do
when they came
against you
from above you
and below you
and when your eyes rolled
and your hearts
rose to your throats
while you thought
the things you thought
about God
it was there
that the believers
were tested
and severely shaken
and when those who
pretend to believe
and those with sickness
in their hearts
said
"God
and Hu's Messenger
only promised us
what is not real"
when a party of them said
"People of Yathrib
you cannot live here
so retreat"
and some of them
were asking the Newsbringer
to be allowed to leave
saying
"Our houses are at risk"
but they were not at risk
they just wanted to run away
and if a force
had gained entry
to those places
and they had been asked
to return to argument
they would have done so
and only thought about it
for a short time
yet before that
they had made
a solemn promise
to God
that they would not
turn their backs
and promises to God
will be asked about
say
"Running away
will do you no good
if you run
from death or killing
you will be given
some days of enjoyment
but only a few"
say
"Who will defend you
from God
if Hu wants evil for you
or wants mercy for you?"
they will find
for themselves
no protector or helper
apart from God
God will surely know
those of you
who stand in the way
and say to their siblings
"Come with us"
and only come
to fight a little
they grudge you any help
when fear strikes them
you see them
looking at you
their eyes rolling
like those scared to death
but when
the fear leaves them
they attack you
with sharp tongues
being jealous
wanting the good things
they have never been
those who believe
and God will make
their deeds come to nothing
and that is easy for God
they think that
the joint forces
have not left
but if those joint forces
did come back
they would wish that
they were living in the desert
amongst the Bedouins
asking for news of you
if they were with you
they would only fight a little
you have a good example
in God's Messenger
for whoever hopes for
God and the Last Day
and remembers God often
when those who believe
saw the joint forces
they said
"This is what God
and Hu's Messenger
promised us
and God
and Hu's Messenger
have spoken truly"
and it only increased them
in belief and surrender
among those who believe
are those who were true to
their promise to God
some of them
have kept their promise
with their death
and some are still waiting
and they have not
changed at all
so God may repay
the truthful ones
for their truth
and punish
those who pretend
if Hu wills
or turn to them again
with forgiveness
surely God is
Most-Forgiving
Ever-Merciful
God sent back
those who were
ungrateful
in their rage
and no good
came to them
God made it that
those who believe
did not have to fight
surely God is
Tireless
All-Powerful
and Hu brought down
those of
the People of the Book
who supported them
from their fortresses
and put terror in their hearts
some of them you killed
and some
you made captive
and Hu gave you
their lands and their houses
and what they owned
and land that had
never been yours
God is powerful
over everything
O Newsbringer
say to your wives
"If you want
this present life
and what makes it beautiful
come now
and I will give you
all you need
and set you free
with kindness
but if you want God
and Hu's Messenger
and a home in
the next world
God has made ready
for those of you
who do good
a mighty reward"
wives of the Newsbringer
whoever amongst you
does what is wicked
her punishment
shall be doubled
that is easy for God
but whoever amongst you
obeys God
and Hu's Messenger
and does what is right
We shall pay her
her reward
twice over
We have made
ready for her
a generous providing
wives of the Newsbringer
you are not
like other women
if you are
Mindful of God
do not be
too soft spoken
when you speak
in case someone
with sickness in their heart
desires you
but speak up
with polite and
honourable words
stay in your houses
and do not
make display
of your beauty
as they did before
in the Time of Ignorance
and make the Sala
and pay the Zaka
and obey God
and Hu's Messenger
people of the House
God only wants
to take away from you
what is filthy
and to make you clean
remember what is said
in your houses
of the Signs of God
and the Wisdom
God is
Subtle
All-Aware
men
who have surrendered
and women
who have surrendered
men
who believe
and women
who believe
men
who obey
and women
who obey
men
who speak the truth
and women
who speak the truth
men
who are patient
and women
who are patient
men
without pride
and women
without pride
men
who give charity
and women
who give charity
men
who fast
and women
who fast
men
who guard
their private parts
and women
who guard
men
who remember God often
and women
who remember
God has made ready
forgiveness
for them
and a mighty reward
it is not for
any man
who believes
or any woman
who believes
when God
and Hu's Messenger
have decided something
to have any choice
in the matter
whoever
refuses to obey
God
and Hu's Messenger
has clearly wandered
far astray
when you said to him
whom God has blessed
and you have favoured
"Keep your wife to yourself
and be Mindful of God"
and you were hiding
inside yourself
what God would reveal
afraid of other people
when God has
more right
that you should fear Hu
so when Zayd
no longer wanted her
We married her to you
so that there
would be no blame
on those who believe
concerning the wives
of adopted sons
when they no longer
want each other
and God's command
is always carried out
the Newsbringer
is not to blame
for what
God has commanded
this was God's Way
with those who
passed away before
and what God commands
will certainly happen
those who were
delivering
the Messages of God
and feared Hu
and did not fear anyone
except God
God is enough
as a reckoner
Muhammad
is not the father
of any of you
but is
the Messenger of God
and the Seal of
the Newsbringers
God has knowledge
of everything
those who believe
remember God often
give Hu glory
morning and evening
it is Hu
that blesses you
and Hu's Angels
to bring you out
from the shadows
into the light
Hu is Ever-Merciful
to those who believe
on the day when
they will meet Hu
their greeting will be
"Peace"
and Hu has
made ready for them
a generous reward
O Newsbringer
We have sent you
as a witness
and to bring
good news
and a warning
calling to God
with Hu's permission
and as a light giving lamp
give good news
to those who believe
that waiting for them
with God
is a great bounty
and do not obey
those who are
ungrateful
and those who
pretend to believe
pay no attention
to the hurt they intend
but put your trust in God
God is enough
as a guardian
you who believe
when you marry
believing women
then divorce them
before you touch them
there is no waiting time
for you to calculate
so provide for them
and set them free
with kindness
O Newsbringer
We have made
lawful for you
your wives
to whom you have paid
their marriage dowries
and those you own
spoils of war
that God has given you
and the daughters of
your father's brothers
and the daughters of
your father's sisters
and the daughters of
your mother's brothers
and the daughters of
your mother's sisters
who have made Hijra
with you
and any woman
who believes
if she give herself
to the Newsbringer
and if the Newsbringer
wants to marry her
only for you
not for the rest of
those who believe
We know what We have
said they must do
with regard to their wives
and those they own
so there can be
no blame on you
God is
Most-Forgiving
Ever-Merciful
you may keep away from
whoever you wish
from them
and be close to
whoever you wish
and if you want any
that you have left alone
there is nothing wrong in that
it is more likely
that they will be comforted
and not feel sorrow
and each will be pleased
with what you give her
God knows
what is in your hearts
God is
All-Knowing
Gentle
After that
no other women
are permitted to you
nor for you to take
other wives
in exchange for them
even if
their beauty
attracts you
except those you own
God is watching
over everything
you who believe
do not enter
the Newsbringer's rooms
for food
unless you are invited
and do not
wait around for meal times
but when you are invited
then enter
and when you have eaten
leave
not sitting around
for idle gossip
that hurts the Newsbringer
and he feels ashamed
to tell you
but God is not
ashamed of the truth
and when you
ask his wives for something
ask them from behind
a curtain
that is cleaner
for your hearts and theirs
it is not for you
to hurt God's Messenger
nor to marry
his wives
after him
ever
in God's sight
that would be
a dreadful thing to do
whether you show anything
or whether you hide it
surely God knows
everything
there is no blame on them
with regard to
their fathers
their sons
their brothers
their brothers' sons
their sisters' sons
their women
and those they own
so be Mindful of God
surely God is
witness to everything
God and Hu's Angels
bless the Newsbringer
you who believe
bless him also
and pray for him
to have peace
those who abuse
God and Hu's Messenger
God has cursed them
in this world
and the world to come
and has made
ready for them
a shameful punishment
and those who abuse
men who believe
and women who believe
when they have not
deserved it
have brought
upon themselves
what comes from lies
and doing
what is clearly wrong
O Newsbringer
say to
your wives and daughters
and those women
who believe
that they draw their clothing
close around them
so it is more likely
that they will be known
and not be harmed
God is
Most-Forgiving
Ever-Merciful
if those who
pretend to believe
do not stop
along with those
in whose hearts
there is sickness
and those who
spread rumours
in the city
We will set you against them
and then they will only be
your neighbours there
for a little while
they will be cursed
and wherever they are found
they will all be seized
and killed
this was God's will
with those who
passed away before
and you will find
there is no changing
the will of God
the people will ask you
about the Hour
say
"The knowledge of it
is only with God
what will make you
understand?
perhaps the Hour is near"
God has cursed
those who do not believe
and made ready for them
a blazing Fire
living in it forever
they will find
no protector
and no helper
on the day when their faces
are twisted around in the Fire
they shall say
"If only we had obeyed
God and the Messenger"
they shall say
"Our Liege
we obeyed our chiefs
and our great ones
and they led us
astray from the Way
our Liege
give them
double punishment
and curse them
with a mighty curse"
you who believe
do not be like those
who hurt Moses
God said he was not guilty
of what they said
and that he was
held in high honour
with God
you who believe
be Mindful of God
and speak words
that hit the mark
and Hu will set your deeds
right for you
and will forgive you
your bad deeds
whoever obeys
God and Hu's Messenger
has won
a mighty victory
We offered the trust
to the heavens
and the earth
and the mountains
but they refused to carry it
and were afraid of it
but humans carried it
surely they are
wicked and foolish
so God may give
equal punishment
to those men
who pretend to believe
and those women
who pretend to believe
and those men
who give partners to God
and those women
who give partners to God
and God may turn again
with equal forgiveness
to men
who believe
and to women
who believe
God is
Most-Forgiving
