You know, when humans look at the creation that surrounds them they have to try to make sense of it all,
but if they look up at the sky, what they see is way beyond their reach,
so most people start where they are standing, and look closer at the things that are on or under the earth that lies around them.
It's not that they don't look up at the sky and try to understand what they can see there,
but when they look at what is much closer to them down below, they can touch things, and take them apart.
And then they can try to put things together in different ways to see if anything interesting happens,
to see if they can change things.
So they try to use different forces to change things.
They prod things and squeeze them and stretch them, and just like when they are cooking food, sometimes they heat things up and sometimes they cool things down.
And sometimes they burn things to get energy, like the petrol they use in their cars, or the gas they use to cook with, or to heat their homes.
Or they find ways to use electricity to light up the dark and change the world around them.
But of course, not everything that they want to prod or pull apart is prepared to just lie there and let them do it.
Some things try to get away.
And those are the things they tend to find most interesting,
because they share with them that urge to choose what they want to do for themselves.
Those are all the different kinds of things that share with them what they call life.
And that is the most important thing for muslims to understand,
because learning about the earth and all its energy is learning about how the creation they live in works,
but learning about life, and the muslim way of life, means learning about why we are here.
Which way
do you want to go?
Earth
What is everything made of?
Energy
What makes everything work?
Life
Where can you find life?
