Expressions
You know, humans use words and numbers all the time,
but even though they learn them when they are very small,
before that they already have a way of letting other people know they want something.
The first thing they do when they come into the world is cry.
They already understand how to let the world know that they hurt,
or are uncomfortable, or want something they don't have.
They come into the world already knowing that making the loudest noise they can make for as long as possible is a very simple way to get some attention.
How do they know it?
They know it in the same way that they know how to drink the milk that is given to them when someone understands that they are hungry.
Then a little while later, when they are fed and rested and their bodies are comfortable,
they learn different ways of sharing understanding of the world,
and they learn how to giggle and laugh with those around them, as they share in the joy of living.
And there's a long time when it is just them and the world getting to know each other before they ever learn how to use words or numbers.
And even then as they grow it seems that words can never quite say as much as they want to,
and some things, like love and anger, can't be measured using numbers.
But they still remember how to express themselves in different ways.
Just as when they were babies, they still have ways of sharing their feelings when they are sad or happy,
and they have ways to show their love and anger.
But as they grow they learn much more about what pleases their eyes and ears
and senses of smell and touch and taste.
And all those things are for them to decide.
No matter how much other people tell them what a banana or an apple or an orange tastes like,
they really don't know until they taste them for themselves,
and then they can decide whether they like one better than another.
The life each human lives is just for them.
So all of them express what they sense and what they feel in different ways that don't need words or numbers.
And in that way they can share a wider understanding of what is good and what is bad,
of what they think of as beautiful or ugly.
And so they learn about themselves
and how to live a life in which beauty and good go hand in hand.
They learn how to live their own muslim way of life.
