Five Signs of God

If there's one thing we're familiar with in Glasgow it's rain, but not so easy to persuade people that it is anything other than a pain in the neck - or at least a cold wet sensation running down the back of it.

Morning Thought - 24/07/94

I'm not sure at the moment whether I'm going to have to water my garden today. The winds are blowing the clouds across the sky, but I don't know if the moisture they contain will fall as rain.

Qur'an mentions that cycle of water forming into clouds, falling on the earth, turning into lakes and rivers, and then flowing back into the sea, just as we are all like drops of water finally returning to the ocean of Gods mercy.

But one of the most frequently mentioned Signs of God in the Qur'an is that of the rain falling on a parched dead land, and bringing it back to life. This sign is used to show us how God brings life to us after our deaths. Even after we have been reduced to dust, it is as easy for God to give us new life as it was to give us life the first time.

Then if we have done good during our time on earth, we are reborn into eternal bliss, in a place which we all refer to as Paradise. Of course, muslims usually call it by a different name, for in Qur'an it is known as The Garden.
